Why an inflatable SUP?

Convenient for traveling and storage With Inflatable SUP, you can take it on a plan or car with just a sleep bag size, travelling to anywhere without worrying about storage space or extra pay for air ticket. Easy to store, just deflate and roll it up, you can put it into your closet or leave it in you car for the unexpected paddling opportunities that a hard board would never do.

Better durability and Safer An inflatable SUP board will never go cracked, snapped, dinged, or damaged in the same manner as a hard board, because it is constructed of PVC drop stitch. For this reason it can be a great chose for those who love paddling and use it extensively in an extreme condition such as rocks, hot sun, kids misuse. An inflatable SUP will be much less temperamental and have no long lasting negative effects.

No maintenance required and last longer Do not need to pay much attention on the board maintenance; the board will take care itself! Its life span is as long as a very good quality inflatable boat because they are almost used the same technique and material.

I have been a wave enthusiast for quite some time and I have travelled to Australia, the Bahamas, just to ride the best waves on the planet. I a planning to visit south Africa as some friends sad that there are sme awesome waves down there. I tried out this board when a friend of mine bought it last ear when we were in the Bahamas and I really loved it. Now that I have mine, I can't wait to try it out on those south African waves. I took it to the beach recently though and it had the perfect ring to it as far as surfing is concerned and I got appreciative looks from everyone who saw this board.Pros.If you love riding waves then this is the perfect board for you. Cons.I have no problem with this board so far and I just can't wait to aki it south. (Posted on 4/30/2015)

  2. Solid, easy to transport SUP, Unbelievable price!!! Review by suzana

Even better than I expected. I had read a lot of on line reviews for inflatable SUPs but you can't believe how solid these are until you actually blow it up and use it. I've wanted a SUP ever since I rented one in Hawaii but didn't want to deal with roof racks and strapping one down any time I wanted to take it somewhere.
Inflation was quicker than expected. The pump is really big and I can inflate it easily in a few minutes. I don't see a need to use an electric pump. Deflating and rolling up only takes a few minutes too. I feel so lucky to get this board at such price. Thanks!! (Posted on 12/22/2014)

  3. Great Inflatable SUP! Review by JP

I have been using the board for a couple months now and must say it rocks. I had my girlfriend, dog, and myself on it one day on the lake and it did just fine with 370+ pounds on it. Ive been very impressed by this board, and have recommended it to several friends and family looking to get in the sport. Best of all it is always in my trunk and I can paddle anywhere there is water when I feel like it!!

I did a lot of research on inflatable boards. I personally do not live directly on the water however have a cottage on a lake that I frequent in addition to family with homes on water in various places throughout the US.
I took the board out on the water a day after I got it. Here are some things I think thus far.
    1. It took me exactly 3 minutes to inflate. I am fit, however a cyclist so most of my strength is in my legs. I did not find this hard, but did require a couple short breaks in the 3 minutes. I would say 5-8 minutes is reasonable for most people in relatively good health.
    2. Before the gauge even read 1 psi I thought the board was very stiff... I thought the gauge was broken for a minute, but kept pumping and got to 11psi. I have been amazed at how hard the board it for something inflatable. Yet... on the pad it is still very soft. I DID NOT notice flex on the water even when purposely bouncing on it.
    3. The pump system works very well, just make sure you have the valve in the correct position and have engaged the hose end fully so it stays in. It took me a minute to figure this out.
    4. paddled into a head wind immediately... wasn't easy, but I survived. This is a very fun board. ITs not the fastest, but its fun. The size is great. I floated well and im about 6'1" 180 lbs.
    5. Pay less than 600.00 and get this board! you wont regret it! (Posted on 12/22/2014)

Q How do the boards compare to hard boards?

A When inflated correctly and used for general Stand Up Paddling you will hardly notice a difference. For high performance surfing you will find you will have to adapt your style as the board rides differently but still rides well. The biggest benefit is that you can deflate, roll up and stash your board in the back of the car with ease and transporting it further afield is really easy.

Q How durable is a Shark SUPs?

A In a word Supper. The first board we made in 2009 is still in good condition after heavy abuse.

Q Can I learn to SUP on a Sharksups?

A Absolutely and because they are soft they will be kinder on your body when you fall.

How long can I leave the board inflated for?

A Over time you will experience some loss of pressure especially with temperature changes. Just top it up before you hit the water. The board should be stored out of direct sunlight and if you are not going to use it for a while you should reduce the pressure to below 15psi.

Q How much pressure can I put in the board?

A It is impossible to over inflate the board using the hand pump. The Shark SUPs boards are built to take a lot of pressure. You won’t need to put more than 30psi in your board. Above this pressure you will see no increase in stiffness but you will find the valve is hard to push down to deflate the board. For general use 15-25psi is best. Heavier riders will benefit from pressure closer to 25psi.

Q How do I maintain my board?

A You can pretty much give it hell if you want to and it won’t mind. If you do want to treat it like an old friend then wash it down with fresh water after each use, keep out of direct sunlight and store loosely rolled. Treated like this it will last a long time and maintain it’s value if you ever want to sell it to upgrade to a newer model in the future.

Q What do I get in the repair kit?

A In the unlikely event that you put a hole in your board (we have yet to puncture one even after heavy abuse) then inside the repair kit you will find some glue and some patches that can be used to get you back up and running. A good repair should be left overnight to cure. Also inside the repair kit is a valve tool. You can use this to remove the valve from the board for servicing. You may never have to remove it but if you do you’ll have the right tool for the job. There will be an detailed step by step instruction in our user guide.

What about warranties?

A Our products comes with a 1 year limited warranty. Shark SUP's warrants each inflatable stand up paddleboard to be free from defects in materials and workmanship for 1 year. SharkSUP's will repair, or at it's discretion, replace the board. This warranty does not cover:

  • Normal wear and discoloration

  • Damage caused by abuse or failure to perform standard maintenance

  • Damage caused by alterations or modifications to the board

Q Will hot sun cause the board to over inflate?

A We don’t recommend leaving your board in direct sunlight for prolonged periods. Following this advice will keep your board in good working order for as long as possible.

Q What is the best way to store the board?

A You can store the board rolled up in the bag, or fully inflated or partially inflated. If you don’t plan to use your board for a long time we recommend you store it loosely rolled.

Q Do you have another question?

A Do you have a question that is not answered here? If so please send it in via the contact us page and we will answer it straight away Thank you!
